San Antonio's Latina-owned beauty company, Chica Beauty, is expanding

San Antonio based beauty brand, Chica Beauty, is expanding its reach this Hispanic Heritage Month by joining Qurate Retail Group's Small Business Spotlight.

The multi-platform retail circuit helping to boost the Latina-owned company, features shopping networks like QVC, HSN, Zulily. Chica Beauty began surfacing on QVC’s and HSN’s websites and social pages this month. As part of the extended relationship, the company will be officially highlighted on air on September 17, 2021 at noon and 6 p.m. Central time on QVC and at 1:55 p.m. and 7:55 p.m. on HSN. Zulily is set to promote the brand across its social media.

The brand was founded in 2020, by Incarnate Word alumnae and sisters, Mei-Lon and Toni Lee Jimenez. From the onset, the sibling duo wanted to create sleek, on-the-go beauty staples that serve to uplift women. Toni Lee Jimenez's entrepreneurial career includes ChicaGirl, a digital magazine celebrating the stories and successes of young San Antonio Girls, and Scholar Sox, a sock brand. She and her sister and co-founder Mei-Lon envisions her next brand becoming the "go-to" for on-the-go beauty.

Toni Lee Jimenez recognized the amount of makeup products can be overwhelming and confusing. Each of the Chica Beauty kits will contain two items intended to be staples of an everyday makeup routine that can be quickly tossed in a purse, work tote or luggage. "Toni and I started this business together as a way to empower women through beauty. We are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of real girls and women - ‘chicas’ like us. We are proud of our culture and we are so honored and grateful to be selected as one of six small businesses to represent the Latinx community!" says co-founder Mei-Lon Jimenez in a press statement.

Previous to the joint venture, Toni Lee had her hands in a variety of entrepreneurial endeavors, including ChicaGirl, a digital magazine uplifting the stories of San Antonio girls. “My sister, Mei-Lon, and I are excited and thankful to Qurate and NRF for recognizing Latina-owned, small businesses, like ours, who are making a positive impact on our community. The opportunity for us to share our story of resilience and passion on a national platform is a dream come true! We promise to continue to inspire and empower women through Chica Beauty," says Toni Lee Jimenez.

The Small Business Spotlight is in collaboration with the National Retail Federation (NRF) Foundation, and intends to strengthen diverse small businesses through increased exposure and other measures of support. The program will run throughout 2021.
