JANIE M. GONZALEZ: Female Founder Spotlight

San Antonio, Texas entrepreneur Janie M. Gonzalez is known for founding Webhead, an early pioneer of levering web development and Internet technology at the advent of the Internet in 1994 for online commerce and digital communications for clients. She became one of the 1st Mexican American women in tech in her early twenties when Janie launched her start-up company.

Janie and Webhead continue to lead the space of product modernization, leveraging the Cloud, Artificial Intelligence, and 5G to drive industry dominance for clients in the Department of Defense, Federal Government, and Non-Profits space. She has considerable experience in product development, user experience, and digital communications. During her career, Janie has built a reputation as an innovator, who is results-oriented with a strong record of accomplishments of performance in turn-around
high-paced organizations and environments.

She is a public servant serving on non-profit, higher education and corporate boards. Janie is a trustee for CPS Energy, the nation's seventh largest city, San Antonio Texas. The first Mexican American woman appointed to present the Southwest Quadrant – 4, which is one of the largest, diverse, mixed-income areas. Janie is current Vice Chair of the board. She leads the personnel, innovation, and resilience committees. Her focus is on supporting policies and investment in technologies that are revolutionizing the way we generate, store, and transmit power. To improve daily life: lower energy bills, more energy choices, and shorter power outages.

National and local accolades include induction to the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame for Technology, E-Myth Entrepreneur of the Year, Compass Bank Latina Business Excellence, Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas Honorary CEO (Cookie Entrepreneur Officer),  and NAWBO Innovator Awards. She earned an Associate of Arts from Palo Alto College, a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), postgraduate work at the University of Incarnate Word, followed by graduation from the University of Texas at Austin’s Graduate School of Business Community Advancement Program.

Janie resides in San Antonio, Texas. Married to Bill H. Gonzalez, a computer/data scientist/founder of Quantum Realm Computing. Mother to four children: Willem, Evie, Anakin, and Billy Jane.
